I. Introduction
The Department of Hindi at SN College, Chempazhanthy, successfully celebrated Hindi Fortnight (Hindi Pakhwada) from September 13 to September 19, 2025. The week-long celebration was marked by great zeal and enthusiasm, culminating in a grand finale on September 19, 2025. The primary objective of the event was to promote the use of Hindi—the official language of the Union—and to instill a sense of pride in India's linguistic and cultural heritage among students and staff.
II. Inauguration and Dignitaries
The final event commenced at 10:00 AM in the Seminar Hall. The program began with a warm Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Sreechithra V.S., Head of the Department, who highlighted the significance of the fortnight and the department's continuous efforts to promote the language.
  • Inauguration: The celebration was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Raakkhee A.S., who addressed the gathering and emphasized the role of Hindi as a unifying national language.
  • Felicitation: A representative from the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) offered a felicitation, commending the department for organizing such a meaningful and successful event.
  • Keynote Address: The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Suma S., a distinguished scholar and expert in Hindi literature. She spoke eloquently on the "Importance of Hindi," focusing on its role as a link language, its rich literary traditions, and its vital importance in preserving Indian culture and national identity. She encouraged the audience to actively use Hindi in both daily and official communication.
III. Cultural Programs and Competitions
Following the formal session, a vibrant array of cultural programs was presented by the students, showcasing their talent and appreciation for the language. The activities included:
  • Recitation: Soulful poetry sessions where students recited works by renowned Hindi poets.
  • Film Songs: Energetic performances of popular Hindi film songs, adding a contemporary touch to the festivities.
  • Patriotic Songs: Inspiring renditions that evoked strong feelings of nationalism and unity.
  • Dances: Diverse dance performances set to Hindi music, reflecting India’s varied traditions and folk art forms.
IV. Conclusion
The successful event concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Ajithra R.S., Assistant Professor of Hindi. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the Principal, Dr. Suma S., the IQAC, the teaching and non-teaching staff, and the enthusiastic student participants whose overwhelming support made the 2025 Hindi Fortnight Celebration a grand success.
