The Department of English organised an Interactive
Meet with International Writer and Activist Tenzin Tsundue titled “When it
Rains with Tenzin Tsundue – A Window to International Poetry” on 15 October
2025 at 1:30 PM in the College Seminar Hall.
The programme commenced with a prayer, followed by
the Welcome Address delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Manu Remakant, Head of the
Department of English. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Raakhee A
S, Principal of the College.
The guest speaker, Tenzin Tsundue, engaged the
audience with an inspiring and thought-provoking talk on the power of writing
as an act of resistance, reflection, and cultural assertion. During his
address, he encouraged students to observe deeply and change their perspective
in order to become poets and writers with a voice of their own.
The session became even more meaningful as students
actively participated in the discussion and raised thoughtful questions, which
were answered by the speaker with great insight and warmth. The interaction
created a vibrant and intellectually stimulating atmosphere.
Mansi Binoj, I MA English, introduced the speaker,
and Reshma Nath V, III BA English, delivered the felicitation. A special moment
of the event was the presentation of a canvas artwork by Sabnja, III BA
English, to the guest as a token of appreciation.
The programme was well-attended by faculty members
and students of the Department of English. It provided students with a unique
opportunity to engage with global literary perspectives and reflect on how
writing can become an instrument of resistance and identity assertion.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered
by Ms Athira M Raj, Assistant Professor of English, as well as the co-ordinator
of the event.
