R Sankar Memorial Spectrum Seminar Series 2024-25 - DEPARTMENT OF HINDI



The R Sankar Memorial Spectrum Seminar Series 2024-25, organized by the Hindi Department, was successfully held on 17 December 2024 at the Seminar Hall of Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy. The theme of the seminar, “Learning Life’s Inspirations from Indian Movies,” provided an insightful platform for students and faculty to explore how Indian cinema serves as a source of life lessons and inspiration.

The seminar commenced with a prayer song by Kamalam, setting a serene and reflective atmosphere for the event.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Ajithra R. S., Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, and students.

The seminar was formally inaugurated by Dr. Sajith S. J. Sasi, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Hindi, S.N. College, Varkala, who also delivered the Keynote Address. His speech emphasized the profound impact of Indian cinema on society, culture, and personal development, highlighting how films serve as both entertainment and a medium for learning valuable life lessons.

The Presidential Address was given by Dr. Rakhee A. S., Principal, Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy, who underscored the importance of film as an educational tool that transcends entertainment, influencing perspectives and shaping character.

The Felicitation Address was delivered by Dr. Vineetha Vijayan, Assistant Professor, Malayalam Department, who praised the initiative of the Hindi Department in choosing such an engaging and thought-provoking theme for the seminar.

A key segment of the seminar was the student paper presentation session, where six students from various departments presented their research and reflections on the theme.

Each student presented insightful analyses on how Indian movies inspire, educate, and instill values, demonstrating the transformative power of cinema in shaping personal and societal attitudes.

Following the paper presentations, Dr. Sajith S. J. Sasi, the Chief Evaluator, assessed the participants' performances and awarded the top two presenters:

  • Best Presentation: Amina R (S1 Chemistry)
  • Second Place: Devika A (S2 Geology)

Their presentations stood out for their depth of analysis, clarity, and engagement with the audience.

The seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sreechitra V. S., Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Hindi, Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy, who expressed gratitude to the organizers, speakers, participants, and attendees for their active involvement in making the event a success.

The session also featured student cultural programs, adding a vibrant and celebratory touch to the seminar.

A total of 106 students from various departments actively participated in the seminar, making it a highly engaging and interactive session.

The seminar successfully concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of an enriching academic event that encouraged students to explore the intersection of cinema and life’s valuable lessons.

The R Sankar Memorial Spectrum Seminar Series 2025, organized by the Hindi Department, was a resounding success, providing students with a unique platform to analyze and present ideas on how Indian movies contribute to personal growth and societal change. The event fostered intellectual discussions, encouraged student participation, and celebrated the power of cinema as an educational tool.
